Animals already speak the language of energy so when Reiki is offered it is often readily and instantly accepted.
Reiki is always offered on the condition that an animal can accept, reject, use as much or as little energy as needed or none at all - the individual will lead the healing session.
In a herd or group situation when Reiki is being offered the intended recipient may not accept the healing energy but you will quite often see other individuals nearby respond to the healing. Reiki is available to all and can do no harm.
In my (Alison) early days of practice I have seen myself being so intent on offering Reiki to a particular animal I haven't noticed a crowd gathering behind - heads nodding in trance !
When the session has ended they will let you know. My first animal 'client' was a beautiful little Westie girl who was having chemotherapy. It was at a vet surgery where they had a dedicated complementary therapy room, I had been successfully treating human clients for a number of years but had no idea really how to conduct an animal Reiki session. Her people were both Reiki masters (no pressure there then!).
I need not have feared, she guided the session in textbook style: being shy of strangers and hiding under her man's chair, with me thinking 'do I get them to coax her out or shall I send it under
the chair...... ?'.
I chatted with her people while connecting to Reiki, she came out from under the chair, plopped herself in front of me and drew in the healing energy for around 20 mins, then yawned, stretched and went back under her chair. A classic animal Reiki session !
When our pets are ill or going through life changes
Advances in veterinary medicine are amazing, our animals are living longer and are able to take advantage of many of the same procedures that are available in human medicine. But we can feel helpless when their primary medical care has been administered and we have to stand by and wait until they recover. Reiki is the missing link in modern healthcare and gives us the power to do something beneficial for our animals.
The same problems of old age apply to animals as they do to humans again Reiki is useful to relieve the discomfort of aches and pains, used alongside prescribed medications.
